Istrian Spring Trophy – Matthias Reutimann takes 9th place overall
Due Istrian Spring Trophy is an absolute spring classic. Since Thursday, six professional cyclists from Wels have been on duty in Croatia, mostly in pouring rain. On the first stage on Friday, Matthias Reutimann was in the leading group for a long time and also won a mountain classification before the breakaways were sent off. On today's final stage, the Welsers wanted to know it again and attacked fully from the start. On the 118-kilometer section from Pazin to Umag, around 40 kilometers from the finish, a leading group with Felt Felbermayr cyclist Matthias Reutimann was able to break away and gain a lead of up to 1:30 minutes. Although the peloton tried everything, 7 riders were able to save a total of 9 seconds lead at the finish. Reutimann took 4th place in the finish sprint after 2:27:10 hours, at the same time as winner Matej Zahlaka from the Czech Republic (Team Elkov-Kasper).
“It was a really strong race today, fourth place means a lot to me at the start of the season,” emphasized Matthias Reutimann at the finish.With this strong performance, the Swiss made up 7 places and also achieved a top position in the overall ranking with 9th place for the Felt Felbermayr team. “The team worked together really well and implemented the tactical guidelines for today optimally,” said Paul Renger, who looked after the team in Croatia.
3rd place for Patryk Stosz at the criterion in Rhodes
To mark the start of the Tour of Rhodes 2024, which will run from March 14th to 17th, 2024, a criterion was run on the Greek island today. The Felt Felbermayr team isthere with a second team in action. While it rained heavily in Croatia at times, the criterion on the island was completed in bright sunshine. A total of 14 laps had to be completed on the 3.2 kilometer long course. Felt-Felbermayr sprinter Patryk Stosz showed his class in the final and took 3rd place. Yesterday he took 9th place at the Rhodes Grand Prix. “That was a really good introduction to the Tour of Rhodes next week. And then we will attack fully at the first race in Austria in Leonding on March 24th,” said racing director Rupert Hödlmoser.
The Felt Felbermayr team is tackling the Tour of Rhodes 2024 with Hermann Pernsteiner, Sebastian Schönberger, Michael Kukrle, Patryk Stosz, Pjotr Brozina, Miguel Heidemann and Emanuel Zangerle.
