On the 4th stage of the tour in the United Arab Emirates, all the top teams concentrated on the final climb. Previously, individual riders repeatedly tried unsuccessfully to escape the peloton. On the tough final climb, Heidemann initially rode with Anatoliy Budyak (Terengganu Cycling Team) in the lead, but then had to let the Ukrainian go. Budyak had a relatively comfortable lead until shortly before the finish, before Spaniard Mario Aparicio (Team Burgos BH) managed to take the lead in the last kilometer and ultimately won comfortably with a time of 3:02:15 minutes. Miguel Heidemann reached the finish 25 seconds behind, Hermann Pernsteiner was only 4 seconds behind.
With this top performance, Heidemann improved to second place in the overall ranking. Before tomorrow's final stage over 94.1 kilometers from Shees Park to Sharjah Safari, he is 20 seconds behind the overall leader with a total time of 9:06:43 hours. Hermann Pernsteiner is 35 seconds short of the yellow jersey. “A great performance by our team at the start of the season,” emphasizes racing director Rupert Hödlmoser. The Felt Felbermayr team is in action in the UAE with Hermann Pernsteiner, Michael Kukrle, Patryk Stosz, Miguel Heidemann, Emanuel Zangerle and Jakob Purtscheller.
