A thrilling Austrian cross-country national championship was offered to the numerous spectators in Maria Enzersdorf today. Dominik Hödlmoser and Julian Pöchacker from the Felt Felbermayr team were two drivers in the elite field who delivered a great race. In the men's elite race, things got really tough right from the start, with temperatures below freezing but otherwise perfect external conditions. Already in the second lap, Gregor Raggl was able to break away from his pursuers and gain a narrow lead, which he defended until the finish. Close behind, Dominik Hödlmoser and Lukas Hatz fought a race for second place, which was only decided in the last lap. The 18-year-old Dominik Hödlmoser ultimately took 3rd place after 57:59 minutes, only 7 seconds behind winner Gregor Raggl and at the same time as Lukas Hatz. “An incredible race. “I’m very happy about my first podium in national elite championships,” said Hödlmoser at the finish. At the same time, the Salzburg player also secured the U23 runner-up title with an average speed of 26.2 km/h. Teammate Julian Pöckacker had minor technical problems shortly after the start, but fought back and took an excellent 5th place, 1:03 minutes behind.
Patryk Stosz in Poland in 6th place
At the Polish national cross-country championships, Felt Felbermayr professional cyclist Patryk Stosz took 6th place. The newcomer from Wels was involved in a crash shortly after the start, which put a podium place out of reach.
Top European Championship placement for Felix Ritzinger
Felix Ritzinger, another professional cyclist from Team Felt Felbermayr, was in action for Austria today. The 26-year-old Viennese took part in the European Track Championships in Appeldoorn/Netherlands today and achieved a top result with 6th place in the points race. Ritzinger was even in the lead at the start of the race, but then had to pay tribute to the aftermath of his fall in the Madison competition on Thursday.
