Wels cycling professionals with top performances at the

World Cycling Championships and in Belgium

The Wels cyclists were in action today at the 21st Alfasun Gooikse Pijl (UCI 1.1) over 195.8 kilometers in Belgium and showed a top performance against numerous World Tour teams that were at the start. Wels cyclist Sebastian Schönberger made a significant contribution to this cycling classic and worked his way from the main field into the four-man leading group

halfway through the race with a fellow competitor. The six breakaway riders tried to save their lead of almost two minutes to the finish, but were caught by the peloton nine kilometers before the finish. In the mass sprint that followed, the Wels cyclists fought with the world's best until the end and were able to take 21st place thanks to Patryk Stosz. The Pole reached

the finish line at the same time as winner Tim Merlier from Belgium (Team Soudal Quick-Step), who was recently crowned European road champion, after 4:17:14. Emanuel Zangerle was also strong, finishing in 33rd place at the same time and thus continuing his strong performance at the European Road Cycling Championships.

Heidemann in the top 20

The individual time trial was on the agenda today at the Cycling World Championships in Zurich. Wels professional cyclist Miguel Heidemann took on the 46.1-kilometer course for Germany and fought against top riders such as Filippo Ganna, Primoz Roglic and the new individual time trial world champion Remco Evenepoel from Belgium for a top placing. With a top performance, Heidemann secured 20th place after 56:06 minutes (average 49.3 km/h) and also left Maximilian Schachmann

behind in the inner-German duel.
