Felt Felbermayr professional cyclist Hermann Pernsteiner has today been crowned
Austrian national champion in the 2024 mountain bike marathon. The
Lower Austrian won the Mountain Bike Challenge in Krumbach in the
Buckelige Welt - not far from his home - with a lead of almost 4 minutes over
his closest rival. A total of 70 kilometres and 2,300 metres in altitude
had to be completed. Right from the start, the 33-year-old rode in tropical
temperatures of around 35 degrees Celsius with Daniel Geismayr at the front and
after his solo escape after one and a half hours of racing, he left no doubt
that victory would only go to the Felt Felbermayr professional cyclist.
As with his first mountain bike victory in Ischgl, Pernsteiner mastered the climbs.
Pernsteiner mastered the climbs confidently, did not risk too much on the descents and
and managed his lead. Pernsteiner won after 3:09:23 hours ahead of
Daniel Geismayr (+03:55 minutes) and Uwe Hochenwarter, who was already 09:43
minutes behind. ‘This Austrian championship title is something very
special for me. I'm really happy to wear the championship jersey in front of my home crowd.
in front of a home crowd. I had to push myself to the limit, the temperatures
were extreme,’ emphasised Pernsteiner at the finish.
