The Felt Felbermayr Express was in action today in a one-day race in Romania. Riccardo Zoidl, Sebastian Schönberger, Tom Wirtgen, Josef Dirnbauer, Emanuel Zangerle and Michael Kukrle represented the city of trade fairs at the Cupa Max Ausnit (UCI 1.2). And it was Kukrle who secured the next podium place for the Felt Felbermayr team. In the sprint to the finish of the 155-kilometer race with start and finish in Lugoj, he secured third place after 3:34:17 hours, the same time behind winner Kyrylo Tsarenko (Team Corratec). After just a few kilometers, Tom Wirtgen and two other riders were able to break away from the field and dominate the race until 110 kilometers. After the leading trio, who had a three-minute lead at one point, were caught, attack after attack followed and the field was completely split up on the final climbs. However, Michael Kukrle managed to catch the decisive post and secure the next podium place for the Wels team. "We played a major role in the race today and really wanted to get on the podium. The team once again delivered a top performance today," said racing director Paul Renger.
