The 73rd Tour of Austria started today in St. Pölten with an individual time trial over three kilometers. The Wels cyclists showed a solid performance on the flat course in the Lower Austrian capital. As the best Felt Felbermayr rider, Tom Wirtgen finished 22nd in the battle against the clock with a time of 3:46.30 minutes (average 47.7 km/h), a total of eight seconds behind prologue winner Cameron Rogers (Team Lidl-Trek Future Racing) from Australia and seven seconds behind second-placed Italian superstar Filippo Ganna (Team Ineos Grenadiers).
