Felt Felbermayr professional cyclist Riccardo Zoidl showed today at the 2024 Austrian National Championships on the road that he is in top form. On the difficult circuit over 157.8 kilometers and 3,100 meters of altitude in Königswiesen/Upper Austria, the winner of the Tour of Hellas and Tour of Malopolska 2024 dominated the race for a long time together with some World Tour professionals. After no breakaway group was able to break away decisively in the first half of the race, the new individual time trial champion Felix Großschartner (UAE Team Emirates) and Ricci Zoidl launched an attack, whereupon an eight-man leading group peppered with Austrian World Tour riders and Zoidl's teammate Emanuel Zangerle formed. In the third to last of a total of 10 laps, the pace increased again. In addition to Zoidl and Großschartner, other top riders were at the front, including Patrick Konrad (Team Lidl-Trek), Gregor Mühlberger (Team Movistar) and Alexander Hajek (Team BORA - hansgrohe). Konrad had to let go in the last lap and the decision was made in the sprint to the finish: Alexander Hajek had the best legs and won after 4:03:41 hours ahead of Mühlberger and Großschartner. Riccardo Zoidl finished 4th in this elite field at the same time as the winner, with Sebastian Schönberger (7th place), Emanuel Zangerle (8th place) and Hermann Pernsteiner in 11th place (all 4:04 minutes behind), the Wels team showed a strong team performance.
