Riccardo Zoidl wins the queen stage Tour of Hellas 2024 (UCI 2.1) ahead of Hermann Pernsteiner

Great success for the Wels professional cycling team Felt Felbermayr in Greece: Today, Riccardo Zoidl solo wins the queen stage of the 19th Tour of Hellas 2024 (UCI 2.1) over 158 kilometers from Karditsa to Karpenissi-Velouchi. The professional cyclist from Haibach ob der Donau/Upper Austria. broke away from his pursuers on the final climb and won by 34 seconds ahead of his teammate Hermann Pernsteiner. The Italian Valerio Conti from the Corratec - Vini Fantini team came third, 1:22 minutes behind. Zoidl is also leading in the overall ranking. After yesterday's stage victory and the leader's jersey for Felix Ritzinger, the Felt Felbermayr team went one better today: With Riccardo Zoidl and Hermann Pernsteiner, the Wels team celebrated a double success in Greece: Today's stage had two mountain classifications in category 2 and one in horse Category in itself. On the final climb over 11.8 kilometers with an average gradient of 8.7 percent, the two Wels mountain chamois took the initiative and took victory in a convincing manner. The success was marred by a fall suffered by Josef Dirnbauer, who is currently being examined in hospital for an injury to his collarbone. “Our racing tactics worked completely today. Now we will all work hard over the next two days to defend the leader’s jersey and bring the tour victory to Wels,” emphasizes racing director Paul Renger, who looks after the team in Greece.

Overall leadership in the tour

With today's victory, Ricci Zoidl also takes over the lead in the overall standings from his teammate Felix Ritzinger, who slipped into the leader's jersey yesterday. The Upper Austrian's lead over his teammate Hermann Pernsteiner is 46 seconds before the last two stages. The Wels team also leads in the team ranking.
