Patryk Stosz secures second place at the premiere of GP Brda-Collio 2024

Team Felt Felbermayr is rushing from success to success in the still young 2024 cycling se-ason: Patryk Stosz made it through today's premiere of the Grand Prix Brda-Collio (UCI 1.2), which was held over 165.9 kilometers in the border area between Slovenia and Italy Once again on the podium: The Pole took second place in a difficult uphill finish sprint after 3:19:13 hours and thus another important 30 UCI points for the Wels team. This was the third 2nd place for the Wels sprint rocket within just five days. “My legs were pretty empty today after the Tour of Rhodes and the rest of the journey, so I’m even happier about being on the podium today,” said Patryk Stosz at the finish. Miguel Heidemann and Felix Ritzinger had previously optimally prepared the sprint for Stosz. His compatriot Pjotr Brozyna had a violent fall on a descent, but was uninjured apart from abrasions.

Hectic premiere race

The premiere of the GP Brda-Collio was something special. Since the route was new territory for all drivers, the hectic pace was correspondingly great. There were repeated attempts by larger groups to break away, but all of them were unsuccessful, partly due to the indecision of the leaders. In the last 20 kilometers, Astana rider Max Walker successfully attacked and gained a lead of 30 seconds. However, on the slight final climb of three kilometers to the finish, the sprint formations formed and gave the breakaway no chance. In the final, Pole Marcin Budzinski (Team Mazowsze Serce Polski) was unbeatable and took victory in the first edition of the race. “Today was not for the faint of heart. The team worked well together and never lost focus on what was important despite all the hectic racing,” emphasizes Paul Renger, who looked after the team in Slovenia.
